Our goal at Literacy & Learning Center is to create an environment where students of any age experiencing difficulty with reading and spelling will find well-trained professionals and a program designed to meet their individual needs.
We address the needs of students who fail to master reading and spelling skills at the same rate as their peers. Some students learn to read and write easily. However, reading, writing, and spelling do not come naturally for all students.
This may be because of a learning disability or because methods used in their classroom setting. These students learn only if they are taught intensively with a multi-sensory, systematic, explicit approach. Studies have shown that months of intensive instruction using such an approach can raise reading skills to levels that may have taken years with traditional methods. |

We utilize the Wilson Reading System (WRS), which is a research-based program designed for students who struggle with reading and spelling. WRS is now used in school districts throughout the country, to teach students word structure and language through a carefully sequenced, 12-step program.
This system helps them master reading and spelling in a structured process and learn cumulatively and systematically. It has been used successfully with students who have been unable to learn spelling and/or reading through traditional basal methods, whole-language or phonics programs. |

The Literacy and Learning Center has been amazing for my son, who was diagnosed with Dyslexia. The one-on-one attention has improved his reading skills and self assurance. Now he looks forward to school and learning new skills.

Caroline has successfully completed her tutoring with The Literacy and Learning Center in Easley, SC! I want to thank you and your wonderful staff of tutors for all that was done on Caroline’s behalf. For more than two years, Caroline came twice a week for her sessions and never do I remember her complaining or wishing she didn’t have to go. That speaks volumes about how engaging each session was. What a difference the overall progress has made in this young person’s life. I know Caroline felt very much cared for and supported by all the folks at the Center and her confidence in herself was boosted by the constant attention given to her and her work, not to mention the interest taken in her extra curricular activities as well. We are very proud of Caroline and her accomplishments. We consider The Literacy and Learning Center to be a contributor to Caroline’s success.
